Ego deflation and relapse - Substance Abuse Treatment.

If we can replace our sense of self-preoccupation with Godliness, we have a chance to recover from relapse. The aim should be to use the relapse for the benefit of others. There's nothing more powerful in the recovery world than to know that the disease is 'out there' ready and waiting to pounce on anyone, no matter how much time they have.

Josh Hamilton remarked that he thought he had his disease beat. This may indicate why he relapsed. His thinking may have been skewed in the sense that he thought he had to overcome the problem as many people believe. Accurate information is found at twelve-step meetings where we learn that we don't beat the disease. We can't beat the game. We surrender to God and He beats the game, i.e., takes away the cravings and helps us to become humble enough to stop trying [...]

Today.com aired a video (1-18-12) regarding Demi Moore's 911 call whereas a friend reported that she was having convulsions. The caller stated that Demi was convulsing, had smoked something similar to incense and had a history of prescription medication abuse and had been in recovery, lost her AA sponsor in September of 2011 and her husband in November of 2011, was aging (49 years old) and had career problems...These were suggested as reasons for the 911 inciden [...]

We must protect our children!!! Legalizing drugs will make them available to kids just as oxycontin has become available to kids. Seven childre die each day in Florida from oxycontin OD. Let's think this legalization issue through. It's one thing to let adults have free choice but we have to, must protect our children from traffic, bullys, neglect, sexual abuse, physical abuse, starvation, and especially legal drug abuse. Get a recommendation from a person who has experience with a treatment center and do your 'due diligence' and then do what they say. Unless you see some 'red flags', trust their direction. Look for adherence to spiritual principles and twelve-step programs. Be aware of high costs and a promise that they will 'fix' your child.

Woody Harrelson was on the Jimmy Kimmel last night joking about not remembering that his child was at college due to being memory-impaired. This is typical of Hollywood adolescent thinking. He doesn't know or seem to care about accurate information about marijuana use.
