A new life; a new purpose - without alcohol, marijuana, valium, opium, sedative, speed...

Recovery means that, because of our experiences with pain and suffering and making others suffer,  we now have a chance to help where normal people can't.  We understand each other. We listen to each other.  When speaking about our disease the conversation takes on a new meaning.  When we realize we are talking to another who has "been there', we no longer try so hard to cover up and protect our shame.  We can be honest without judgment.  Then we can heal.

We can leave this behind when we go.  We can leave a legacy of sober and clean living and a warm memory for others of our service without pride or asking for anything in return.

Love and peace,

Docpete,

the imperfect therapist
